A novena is a nine-day intentional prayer usually focused on a particular intention. It’s patterned on the Apostles who after Jesus’ ascension into heaven devoted themselves to 9 days of prayer as they awaited the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This is asking for the prayers and intentions of Saint Joseph, the foster-father of Jesus and spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary
